Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is a common entrance examination for engineering conducted for admission to various colleges in India. JEE is considered to be one of the toughest examinations for engineering in the world and every year millions of students appear for this examination.
JEE Mains 2018
JEE examination is conducted in two phases, namely JEE mains and JEE advanced, to get admission into IITs, NITs, IIITs & other government engineering Institutes. The various number of courses offered by the Institute for the JEE aspirants are B.Tech/B.E., B.Arch, Integrated MSc etc.
Eligibility Criteria for JEE 2018
- Age Limit-
(a) Age Criteria: The candidates (General & OBC) born after October 1st, 1993 are eligible to apply for JEE Mains 2018.
(b) For candidates belonging to reserved category (SC, ST and PwD), there is a relaxation in the age limit where applicants born after October 1st, 1988 are eligible to apply for JEE mains 2018.
- Number of Attempts-
An aspirant can avail a maximum of 3 attempts in JEE Mains 2018, whereas, for JEE advanced 2018, a student can appear only 2 consecutive times.
- Aadhar Card for Registration
A new criterion for JEE Mains has been introduced, where students must have a valid registered Aadhar card number for the examination.
- Minimum marks required for IIT JEE Mains:
(a) The eligibility criteria for JEE mains for students belonging to general category- The students must score at least 75% marks in their class 12th board examination or must rank amongst the top 20 percentile scorer in their qualifying examination.
(b) For students belonging to reserved categories (SC, ST or PWD) – The students belonging to this category must score at least of 65% marks in their class 12th board examination.
JEE Mains 2018: No Weightage of Class 12th in Rank Calculation
One of the major changes implemented in JEE examination is that the marks obtained in class 12th shall not be considered in calculating the overall rank of the student. The percentage obtained shall only serve a qualifying criterion for candidates to appear for the JEE mains 2018 examination.
